The Writer I am/ Want to be

I am a writer. I am a writer who loves words. I am a writer who is intentional. A writer who loves puns and alliterations because they somehow remind me of myself. I am a writer who needs improvement. I am a writer who sat down to write this paper in three different formats and finally settled on some unconventional form of prose. I am a writer who uses a thesaurus and has to check my spelling more times than not. I am a writer who has voice, who sometimes has too many thoughts to organize onto pen and paper, who procrastinates, and who works better under pressure.

I am a writer who dances and doesn’t care who watches. A writer who sings, but isn’t good. A writer who summits mountains, but doesn’t mind an occasional Netflix binge. I am a writer who participates in flying trapeze. I am a writer who has been privileged enough to travel to numerous countries. I am a writer who has won, and a writer who has lost. I am a writer who has too many friends over the age of 30 and am not mad about it. A writer who would snowboard every day of winter and wake board every day of summer if someone would let me. A writer who reflects on each life experience.

I am a writer who is kind, who is loving, adventurous, and eager. I am a writer who values family and a writer who cherishes her friends. A writer who misses her grandma. I am a writer who is gritty. I am a writer who is competitive in all aspects of life. I am a writer who takes education seriously. A writer who wants to be a teacher.

I want to be a writer who strives to use words to make connections; build human empires. I want to be a writer who someday makes an impact on her students. I want to be a writer who creates relationships. I want to be a writer who is vulnerable. A writer who goes above and beyond. I want to be a writer who lives for the thrill of life. I want to be a writer who manifests good vibes. I want to be a writer who never loses the title of a logophile. I want to be a writer who people come to for advice, both in life and academics.  I want to be a writer who is welcoming, informative, and clear. I want to be a writer who never stops learning. A writer who people are drawn to.

I want to be a writer who raises a family. I want to be a writer who speaks good on others, as they speak good on me. I want to be a faithful writer, a writer who is dependable, honest, and trustworthy. I want to be a writer who not only writes her future, but lives it. I want to be a writer who loves her job. I want to be a writer who continues to dance and doesn’t care who watches, who still sings in the car even if it embarrasses her kids. A writer whose kids have manners, kind hearts, and optimistic souls. I want to be a writer who tells people she loves them. I want to be a writer who is beautiful on the inside, and on the page. I want to be a writer.
